} <br /> RESOLUTION REQUESTING RECLASSIFICATION OF - <br /> ' QUAKER LAKE WATERSHED AND PROPOSED GRAHAM--MEBANE .WATERSHED <br /> - <br /> FROM WS-III TO WS-I - <br /> . <br /> WHEREAS, the North Carolina Environmental Management Commission proposes to <br /> adopt new improved description classifications for water supply watersheds to <br /> provide more appropriate protection for surface water supplies used as a raw water <br /> source for drinking water; and <br /> WHEREAS, ,the Quaker Lake watershed and the proposed Graham-Mebane Reservoir <br /> watershed that are now classified WS-III appear to meet the requirements for the <br /> WS-I classification of the proposed designation; and <br /> WHEREAS, the reclassification of the Quaker Lake watershed and the proposed <br /> Graham-Mebane Reservoir waE-ershed to WS-I will be to the benefit of the health and <br /> welfare of .the present and future customers dependent upon- these water supply sources <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE 'IT RESOLVED: _ <br /> 1 . That the City Council of the City of Graham petitions the North Carolina. <br /> Environmental Management Commission to reclassify- the <br /> Quaker <br /> Graham-Mebane Reservoir watersheds that are now classified as t to the <br /> classification of WS-1 promptly upon adoption of the new watershed classifications. <br /> 2. That the Mayor of the City of Graham is authorized and directed to file <br /> such necessary applications, furnish the appropriate information, and take such other <br /> action as needed to support the consummation of the reclassification requests. <br /> 3.
