The Orange County <br /> Command Team has sought to develop a stronger standing under law <br /> for the function to be performed. Mr. Ben Loeb of the Institute <br /> of Government has drafted a bill to accomplish these objectives. <br /> The Hazardous Material Response Team established pursuant would <br /> respond to all hazardous materials, accidents or emergencies <br /> within the County including the territory within incorporated <br /> limits of towns. The team would be composed from existing staff <br /> from city, state or other law enforcement agencies, fire <br /> departments, and rescue squads now serving in the county. <br /> IMPACT: No financial impact would result above that would otherwise be <br /> attendant to training and equipping existing personnel. Exist- <br /> ing liability insurance policies should cove'-_.. the function <br /> without a raise in rates. .1 <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S) : <br /> Request local delegation to introduce legislation establishing <br /> the Orange County Hazardous Materials Response Team. . <br />
