• <br /> • <br /> -, r Q7$ <br /> • I32 <br /> following 'planting procedures (See Appendix for <br /> detai ls) : <br /> ( a ) Planting holes shall be dug at least one—third <br /> 41/3 ) larger than the root- ball . If the soil is <br /> poor, holes should be dug two [ 2] or three [3) <br /> times Larger than the ball and. backfi L led with rich <br /> top soil . <br /> • <br /> (b ) Plants shall be planted in their permanent Location <br /> immediately upon delivery to the site . Plants shall <br /> be installed so that the top of the root ball is <br /> one and one half (1 1/2) inches below ground Level . <br /> String around the stem of the plant shall be <br /> removed and the burlap around the root baLL folded <br /> from the top after the plant is in the hole . Soil <br /> around the plant shall be tamped to remove air <br /> pockets, and a good mulch applied to help retain <br /> moisture . <br /> ( c) ALL trees shall be staked to prevent winds from <br /> Loosening the roots . <br /> [d) ALL plants shall be soaked thoroughly with water <br /> immediately after planting and once a week (unless <br /> soaking rains occur) thereafter during the first <br /> growing season . <br /> ( e) ! Deciduous trees and shrubs shall be cut back to <br /> between one—half (1/2) and one—third (1/3) their <br /> original size following planting . Evergreens are <br /> required to have only Light pruning and shaping <br /> after transplanting . <br /> Where new Landscape materiels are to be installed , the <br /> type of Landscape material to be used in meeting the <br /> requirements of this Article shall be compatible with <br /> plant materials existing, both on the property to be <br /> subdivided and on adjoining properties . No synthetic <br /> plant materials may be used to satisfy the requirements . <br /> At installation , trees shall not be less than ten ( 101 <br /> in height , and shrubs shall not be less than twenty—four <br /> ( 24) inches in height . In any event , plant material <br /> required for the purposes of this Article shall be of <br /> such initial size to reach the required height within <br /> two [ 2) growing seasons after installation . Installation <br /> and construction practices shall be utilized which <br /> preserve and replace existing topsoil . <br /> The owner or developer cf the property shall be <br /> responsible for the continued proper maintenance of all <br /> landscaping materials end shall keep them in a proper , <br />
