•
.. - - `'.' .T*"'. - 1.,.. .y_ c+ro,+.Yg«-)s^,.r:z;.,.rs.m'w apgW,p;..:'.-+cl+.r,..=rn•+-•
O8
SITE STUDY
St. Mary's North
Orange County North Carolina.
rs<
The site under study is located off S.R. 1537 .4 miles north of
St. Mary's- Road and contains 7.82 acres.
The proposed use of this site is to develop. it into a subdivision
consisting of six (6) lots with a minimum lot size of 1 .29 acres.
One road is proposed to service this site, Shrewsbury Lane, which
will be constructed as a cul—de—sac.
When designing a site, stormwater runoff from impervious surfaces
must be routed to provide as much natural cleansing as .possible.
Stormwater runoff from impervious surfaces may carry large
amounts of oil, nutrients, metals, and other pollutants.
Generally, it is the first one—half (1/2) inch of runoff that
carries the highest level of pollutants. These pollutants- can
generally be filtered out of the runoff by on—site infiltration
through vegetated areas, retention ponds, or by detention
structures. The natural terrain of this site combined with the
routing of stormwater with swales to the sediment pits and
vegetation will provide a maximum utilization of these natural
processes.
A lower ratio of impervious material to the vegetation of the
site would result in lower pollutants associated with a site.
The low density associated with this site allows it to have a
• relatively small amount of impervious surface. The impervious
surfaces associated_with this site are as follows:
.62.+/— Acres Graveled Road .
.24 +/— Acres Dwellings
1.0 +/— Acres Impervious Surface
( .iiZ Impervious Surface)
.gin'
