• <br /> II s <br /> -ZS- <br /> - FINANCIAL SERVICES <br /> In studying the income maintenance staffing patterns and needs, <br /> emphasis was placed primarily upon measurable workloads and comparison <br /> of these workloads with the number of staff. In addition, an analysis <br /> was made of work flow procedures in an attempt to make suggestions for <br /> improved utilization of present staff. <br /> The structure of the income maintenance division was found to be <br /> effective. There is one Eligibility Director, (reports to the agency <br /> director) who supervises three Eligibility Supervisor I's. These line <br /> supervisors are each responsible for a specific public assistance <br /> program, and have four to five eligibility specialists in each unit. <br /> The Eligibility Director also supervises one fraud investigator, one <br /> clerk IV, and one clerk III. During the months of October through <br /> December, the Eligibility Director also directly supervises four <br /> temporary eligibility specialists who determine eligibility for the <br /> Low Income Energy Assistance Program. <br /> METHODOLOGY FOR THE AFDC AND MEDICAID UNITS <br /> The workload in these units was assessed by utilizing actual <br /> computer input documents retained by the agency for the months of <br /> ( October and January, as well as the monthly report registers for those <br /> same months. The work flow procedures were examined by interviewing <br /> the line supervisors and some of the eligibility specialists according <br /> to a structured format.
