Box 36
Hillsborough, N. C. 27278
Dear Mr. Greene:
Included in this letter is the information you requested per our
conversation on Tuesday, January 21 , .1986 concerning your subdivision
project and farm, Beachwood Knoll.
You requested assistance in November of 1985 from the Soil Conservation
Service in planning the best soil and water conservation plan for
your farm located off SR #1554 (Baldwin Road). In December, 1985,
you entered into a contract with the Orange Soil and Water Conservation
District under the Nutrient Sensitive Watershed cost-share program.
This contract and plan of operations is considered the 'Best Management
Practices' (BMP) for your farm. The plan includes seeding a
40 acres of cropland to permanent vegetation by the fall of 1 te986xandiy
maintaining this vegetation for the life of the contract - 10 years.
The homes are to be built in the woodland areas. All the woodland will
be left natural , except where the building sites will be. The soil on
the farm is Georgeville. This soil type is generally a well drained soil
that abosrbs water at a permeability rate of .6 - 2.0 inches per hour.
Due to the area being left natural , runoff from the home sites should be
absorbed by the soil and natural cover. This plan includes proper woodland
maintenance, such as harvesting dead or diseased trees, therefore leaving
other trees to remain healthy.
Presently your farm has a soil and water conservation plan and is under contract
with the Orange Soil and Water Conservation District. I feel you have an
excellent erosion control plan for your subdivision Beachwood Knoll .
If you have any questions, please feel free to call.
Sincerely,
J {Lcgc t L
Gail M.
