Information <br /> ptesented at these hearings will be used to update thO Stato'S Transpor- <br /> taion ImproVement Program (TIP). The State's TIP schedules Federal and <br /> St#1.4 440100 for transportation projects state-wide, <br /> Attached is .a proposed list of highway 'projects-needed for Chalet Hill. <br /> Tice priority ranking that we propose is based en previous requests made <br /> to the Stag as well as on our anal ysis of congestion: ;currently <br /> experienced in the CoMmunity. All of the projects listed are Included on <br /> 11.te Town! adopted Thoroughfare Plan. Since the State has separate <br /> sources of highway improvement funds, vire recoMMend -a Priority list for <br /> each source of funds. We also,recommend includinig reqUests that bikeway <br /> fad!it ies and landscaping be included in roadway Imprevemerfts and that <br /> the Town be allowed to participate in designing new facilities, The <br /> reitommencled resolution also states that we Conti hue to Support projects <br /> currently programmed for Chapel Hill, and that we would tike to see the <br /> widening of the US 15-501/NC 54 Bypass rescheduled from j1889 to I956 <br /> . The ref:4*5W are grouped to correspond with three Federal, funding <br /> Soto-ces. These highway funding categories include: Federal-Aka Primary, <br /> Pederal-Ald Secondary, and Federal-Aid Urban. <br /> Federal-Aid Primary routes within our community includ : <br /> US 15-501 from the Durham County line to Franklin' Street; <br /> US, 15-501 Bypass; <br /> US 15401 from the Bypass to the Chatham CoUnty line; and <br /> NC 54 from'the Durham County line to the Bypass. <br /> Federall-Ald Secondary routes include major State-maititolilted roads outside <br /> the city limits. These include: <br /> NC 54 between the Durham County line and the new. 14-40 interchange; <br /> MC 86 north of Homestead Road; <br /> Mt. Carmel Church Road (SR 1008); and <br /> Old burhamFChapel Hill Road. <br />
