Board of <br /> Transportation. <br /> NEED: The N.C. Board of Transportation adopts annually <br /> a multi-year Transportation Improvement Program <br /> outlining needed highway improvements and the <br /> method and schedule for funding such projects. <br /> Prior to adoption of the Program, the Board of <br /> Transportation conducts a series of public <br /> hearings around the state to obtain advice from <br /> local officials and citizens on needed <br /> improvements. <br /> On May 12, 1986, a public hearing will be held at <br /> Guilford Technical Community College in Jamestown <br /> for officials and citizens from District 7, the <br /> district in which Orange County is located. <br /> Representatives from each of the municipalities <br /> will be presenting their requests for highway <br /> improvements to the Board of Transportation. <br /> Each year, the Chair of the Board of <br /> Commissioners has attended the hearing and spoken <br /> in support of each municipality's request as well <br /> as other needs which the Commissioners have <br /> identified. <br /> IMPACT: A coordinated effort to support pp projects within <br /> Orange County increases the Likelihood of <br />
