PUBLIC HEARING: X YES NO ,TTACHMENT(S) : INFORMATION CONTACT: Glenn Davis Budgeted Amount PHONE NUMBERS: HILLSBOROUGH - 732-8181 Current Budget HILLSBOROUGH - 732-9361 Proposed Budget CHAPEL Hill -967-9251 MEBANE - 227-203.1 DURHAM-688-7331 PURPOSE: To receive comments from the public concerning a program amendment to transfer the remaining commmunity.devel.opment activities funds to the parks, playground and recreation facil- ities budget for park construction in the Northern Fairview Community Development Project Area. NEED: All community development activities have been completed in the Northern Fairview Community Development Project Area. Orange County has reclaimed, cleared and graded a landfill area for the development of a community park. Current parks, playground and recreation facilities budget has only $1,136.00 remaining. Staff proposes to submit to the Department of Natural Resources and Community Development (NRCD) a program amendment for trans- fer of remaining community development activities funds (approximately $133,461.59) to the parks, playgrounds and recreation facilities budget for park construction and re- creational facilities. NRCD regulation requires a public hear- ing prior to submission of a program amendment. IMPACT: Citizens input should be reviewed to determine whether comments are in approval or objection to program amendment for park construction and recreational facilities. The approval of a program amendment will make it feasible for park construction and the close-out of the community development block grant in the Northern Fairview Project Area. RECOMMENDATION(S):
