PURPOSE: - <br /> To request additional funds for emergency assistance for Orange County - <br /> Citizens. during 'FY 85-86. <br /> • <br /> • <br /> NEED: Representatives of Inter Faith Council, Joint Orange Chatham Community Action <br /> and Orange Congregations in Missions met with the DSS board on 4/17/86 to <br /> . ,discuss..the heavy demand. for emergency assistance during this fiscal year. i, - <br /> They reported their funds were all but depleted at this time with two and one- <br /> half months of the fiscal year remaining. Dr. Denton, Chair of the DSS board, <br /> -moved to request $10,000 in General Assistance funds, to be administered by the <br /> Department of Social Services, be added as a supplemental appropriation for <br /> FY 85-8g. The motion passed. Approximately $2,500 remains• in the DSS account. ' <br /> • <br /> • <br /> IMPACT: <br /> The above cited four agencies have spent approximately $13,000 per month for <br /> emergency meeds during the past three months.. Due to a depletion of funds an <br /> additional appropriation is needed to assist with emergency aid for the <br /> remainder of the fiscal year. <br /> • RECOMMENDATION(S): Requested°funds be granted. <br />
