10E!
ORANGE COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Action Agenda
ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT Item No.
Meeting Date: APRIL 22, 1986
SUBJECT: RESOLUTION REGARDING CLEAN WATER BOND GRANTS
DEPARTMENT: COUNTY MANAGER PUBLIC HEARING: Yes X No
ATTACHMENT(S) : INFORMATION CONTACT: MANAGER'S
OFFICE, X501
RESOLUTION TELEPHONE NUMBER:
Hillsborough - 732-8181
Chapel Hill - 968-4501
Mebane - 227-2031
Durham - 688-7331
PURPOSE: To provide the State with assurances as to the County's intent
to utilize the awarded grants per deadlines specified by the
State.
NEED: The NRCD Division of Environmental Management has notified the
recipients of clean water grants of its intent to withdraw such
grants unless the respective governing bodies establish sche-
dules and make assurances for proceeding with the projects. A
deadline of 60 days is specified for the receipt of the sche-
dules and assurance while the actual award of the grants must be
done by June 30, 1987.
Orange County has received two clean water bond grants, as
follows:
$42,712 (WC498) accepted July 7, 1982 for the construction
of 8 inch collection sewer and one pump station.
$127,375 (WT388-R) accepted February 6, 1984 for the
construction of a pump station and force main interceptor
system.
An application for both amounts to be used in support of the
Efland Sewer was filed with the State in 1985 by means of a
revised preliminary report. In order for the grants to remain
in effect authorization is needed to submit the attached resolu-
tion which assures the State of the County's intent to proceed
with the project, together with the revised budget and time-
table.
RECOMMENDATION(S) :
Adopt resolution.
