•
• -
•
Mr. Marvin Hoffman, County Manager :
March 25, 1986
Page 2 - •
•
requirements l raised by citizens and our two Chairmen let me
mention three possible options. to consider.
1. Adopt existing line defined by the North Carolina
Department of Transportation as separating the two
counties. While this would satisfy property owners
who have come to rely on this map and the erected
DOIT signs it would pose the problem of cutting, into
the Meadows on the far east and displace two
residences located in Wolf's Pond.
2. Adopt a combination of the green (Durham to
intersecting point) and red lines tersecting •
point to the Haw River) shown in attached map. We
talked about adopting each one of these lines
formerly. By instead going with a combination of
the two we would avoid interfering with the Meadows
on the East and only displace two residences
located in Wolf's Pond.
3 . Adopt a combination of the green (Durham to
intersecting point)" and orange (intersecting point
to Haw River) lines shown on attached map. This
would be the same as above except that all of
Wolf' s Pond residences would remain in Orange
County. To accomplish this a slightly greater
amount of land would be part of Orange County' s
territory at the middle of the County whereas on
the west there would be a greater amount of land as
part of Chatham County' s territory. The effect
would be one of equity.
Let me know your thoughts on these and any further
options you would care to explore. It is in both counties
interest to keep working toward a solution before further
land development- occurs within the area.
Sincerely,
Kenneth R. Thompson
County Manager
KRT/srs
bcc: Board Members
0
