There were two changes e
by the Hillsborough Planning Dept.: 1) Amend Note 5 to statepthedfollowing:
"Use of land within a floodway or a floodway fringe is restricted by the
Hillsborough Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance".
because the subdivision is , This change was suggested
within the Tawn s planning jurisdiction.
Under the Hillsborough Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance, development is
Permitted within the floodway area, if it is shown by a certified engineer
that the base flood level will not be increased. 2)fox the rear property line, as required for ASRooning zoning
in the Town's planning ,jurisdiction.
The Board questioned the validity of the location of the floodway and
flood plain lines shown on the site plan, since, the- site plan was completed
prior to the flooding of this area in mid-August. The Board also discussed
the historical and archaelogical significance of lot number 3, where Occaneechi
Town is located. Due to the concerns expressed above, the Planning Board
recommended) denial of the proposed subdivision.
