NEED: The Carr Store building plans and specifications are almost complete for the interior. The original contract did not include any exterior changes which now appear necessary to alter the supermarket appearance and to avoid doing part of the work now and part later. In order to change the entrance and parking lot layout additional service would be required from the architect. If it is agreed to enhance the entrance, then interior and exterior could be completed at the same time with some savings on cost. This addition would greatly enhance the appearance of the project. IMPACT: The additional architectural service would be in two phases. Design phase would cost $2,400. 00 and construction documents $3,700.00 giving a total cost of $6,100.00. There are suffi- cient funds in the project budget for this year to cover the additional service. It will, however, take additional construc- tion funds to complete both interior and exterior changes under one contract. Bids will be received in time to budget the remaining funds needed for 1986-87. RECOMMENDATION(S) : Approve an amendment to the architectural contract for the additional service at a cost of $6,100.00.
