EXISTING ORDINANCE PROVISIONS <br /> • IV - B 7. SITES FOR PUBLIC USE, 00152 <br /> IV - B - 7 - a. School Sites <br /> IV - B - 7 - a - 1. Proposed dedications for School sites <br /> shall be approved as to location, size and <br /> suitability by the appropriate School Board. <br /> IV - B - 7 - a - 2.- School sites may be reserved in. accord- <br /> ance with N. C. G. S. 153A-331. Whenever <br /> a .subdivision which includes part or all of <br /> a school site to be reserved in accordance <br /> with N. C. G. S. 153A--331 is submitted for <br /> • approval, the Planning Board shall immediately <br /> • 'notify the appropriate board of education. <br /> The board of education shall promptly decide <br /> if it wishes the site to be reserved and <br /> shall notify the Planning Board of its de- <br /> cision. If the board of education does not <br /> wish the site to be reserved, no site may <br /> be - reserved. If the board of education <br /> does wish the site to be reserved, the sub- <br /> division may not be approved without the <br /> reservation. The board of education must <br /> acquire the site within 18 months after the <br /> • - date the site is reserved, either by purchase <br /> or by excercise of the power . of eminent domain. <br /> If the board of education has not purchased <br /> the site or begun proceedings to condemn the <br /> site within the 18 months , the subdivider <br /> may treat the land as freed of the reserva- <br /> tion. <br /> IV - B - 7 - b. Proposed dedications for parks , playgrounds, <br /> and open spaces for public use shall be approved <br /> as to location, size and suitability by the <br /> Planning Board. The approval of a Final Plat <br /> with an approved dedication shall not be deemed <br /> to constitute an acceptance as provided in Section <br /> III Subsection E-2 herein. <br /> 31 -- <br />
