221
file, computer disks/tapes for sale. As of
p
January, 1986 the I/R Collection project is .
still unfinished, suffering from inadequate
financial support.
1983-84 -- HSAC (its Child Care Subcommittee) recommended
the creation of a county commissioner appointed
Task Force to establish a child care coordinating
agency.
Results: The Child Care Networks, Inc. , a private
non-profit agency, was created to serve as a
focal point for information and coordination of
children services.
1984-85 HSAC (its In--home Care Committee) was instrumental
in promoting greater in-home health coordination
and recommending a permanent board to deal with
this issue.
Results: A County In-home Care Board was established
by County Commissioners which is staffed by the
the Dept. of Social Services and advisory to the
Social Services Board.
1984-85 HSAC (its Displaced Workers Committee) studied the
impact of the lay offs in the Hillsborough area and
recommended the establishment of a credit counseling
service.
Results: OCIM (Orange Congregations in Mission)
began offering the credit counseling service.
2. Facilitate COMMUNICATION and COORDINATION among providers.
Since the very beginning, HSAC has devoted time at monthly
meetings for information e:rchanae, through a round robin
practice or special programs. In fact, the communication
function was ranked as the highest relevant HSAC activity
in a 1982 membership- survey. Perhaps the best effort in
communication and coordination was the 1980 Conference and
and Report on Human Services Coordination: Challenge for
the 80's.1, The results were the sharing of ideas and
identifying of major coordination issues such as needs
assessment (setting priorities, evaluation, resources, etc. ) ,
funding, and specific service coordination areas such as
women, aging, children & families, health care, legislative
action, case management, and board development.
