This project was rebid due to insufficient <br /> number of plumbing contractors as provided in G.S. 143-132. In the second <br /> round, bids were received from six general contractors, two plumbing contractors <br /> and four electrical contractors. A bid tabulation is attached for your review. <br /> NEED: General Statutes of North Carolina require approval of Board of Commissioners <br /> for "construction or repair work" requiring the expenditure of $30,000 or <br /> more. <br /> IMPACT: Bids for the three sections of this project total $75,780. According to <br /> the Finance Dept. on February 10, there is $76,500 , available in this project <br /> fund thereby requiring no budget amendment. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Award bid to: <br /> General: Holt Construction Co. - $56,460. <br /> Plumbing: Acme Plumbing Co. - $9,950 <br /> Electrical: .Watson Electrical Co. - $8,455 - Base Bid <br /> $ 915 - Alt. E-1* <br /> Alt. E-1 is the heating system for the expanded area. <br />
