ALICE GORDON <br /> EXCERPT FROM 5-6-85 BOCC MINUTES <br /> Telephone Numbers <br /> Hillsborough - 732-8181 <br /> Durham - 688-7331 <br /> Mebane - 227-2031 <br /> Chapel Hill - 968-4501 <br /> PURPOSE: To review the land use policy implications of Alternates A, B, <br /> and C of the Efland Sewer project . <br /> NEED: The need to review such policy implications was identified by <br /> Dr. ALice Gordon, Chair , Orange County Planning Board (see <br /> attached memo) and by Planning Board member Carl Walters and <br /> Commissioner Shirley Marshall at the 5-6-85 BOCC meeting ( see <br /> attached minutes) . <br /> IMPACT: <br /> Proposed construction of a 12 inch gravity sewer line along <br /> McGowan Creek north of Efland would make it possible to extend <br /> gravity sewer to an extensive area of 20 Year Transition in the <br /> west Orange area. Such extensions raise serious land use <br /> issues related to the pace, timing, amount , type , and impact of <br /> development . <br /> RECOMMENDATION: The Planning Board' s position will be presented verbally at <br /> the Board of Commissioners meeting. <br />
