WHITEHEAD PERSONNEL DIRECTOR MEMORANDUM TO; County Department Heads FROM: Personnel Director SUBJECT: "ORANGE COUNTY GOVERNMENT WEEK" DATE: Febr'uary 6, 1986 The Orange County Board of Commissioners has proclaimed the week of February 23rdlthrough February 28th, 1986 as "Orange County Government Week." By announcing this week as government week, it is the expectations of the Commissioners to promote better understanding and awareness of County Government to the youth and citizenry in our community, and to recognize and express appreciation to County Volunteers. To accomplish the goals of the Commissioners: 1) A special reception will be given '',February 27, 1986 to recognize County Volunteers; 2) A pamphlet on Oriange County Government will be printed and circulated to County departments, agencies, news media, and other community groups; 3) Local school children will participate in art and essay competitions; and 4) Selecteld County officials, department heads, and County employees will speak and/or present demonstrations to classrooms on specific topics of interest. We recognize that the progress achieved and the challenges ahead will continue to be met through a cooperative effort; therefore, we propose to utilize "Orangle County Government week." We are asking for your participation in speaking and presenting demonstrations to classes throughout Orange County. Darlene Farrish of my staff will contact each of you to arrange this. Your cooperation in this attempt is necessary in order that the youth in Orange County become better aware of Orange County Local Government.
