Stra�;in�_ <br /> ( <br /> I3c <br /> The objective of the Staging procedure is to provide a standard system of <br /> initial placerent of people and equipment prior, to assignment at incidents. <br /> Staging is the best way to: <br /> • Prevent excessive congestion at the scene. <br /> • Allow time for Command to evaluate conditions prior to assigning <br /> units. <br /> • Place vehicles and people in an uncommitted location close to the scene <br /> to facilitate effective assignment by Command. <br /> • Reduce radio traffic during the critical. initial. stages of operations. <br /> • Allow Cbmnand to formulate and implement a plan without undue <br /> confusion and pressure. <br /> Staging will involve two levels: LEVEL 7 and LEVEL II <br /> 1. LEVEL I — STAGING <br /> % This procedure- will automatically apply to all multiple unit responses. <br /> The first unit. from each dispatched agency will respond directly to the <br /> scene. <br /> All other'', units will stage in their direction of travel, uncommitted, <br /> approximately lone block from the scene until assigned by Command. . A position <br /> pr iding maximum options with regard to -recess, d: -Yect c,n of travel,r etc. <br /> should be seleted. <br /> Staged units will, in normal response situations, report unit <br /> designation, standing by and their direction ("Car, 4, 10-23 South"): it may be <br /> necessary to be more specific when reporting standby positions in response <br /> situations. command will be notified by Cral of the location of each <br /> staged unit. Staged units will stay off the air then until orders are <br /> 12 <br />
