Program Award <br /> fran the <br /> North Carolina Adult Education Association <br /> The Saturday School for Senior Citizens offered by Durham Technical <br /> Institute in cooperation with the Chapel Hill/Carrboro Community Schools and the <br /> Orange County Department of Aging is a new, creative, and innovative model for <br /> special program for senior citizens. The purpose of the program is to provide <br /> high quality courses at a low cost to meet the interest and needs of senior <br /> citizens living in the Chapel Hill area. <br /> The program provides an excellent example of several agencies working <br /> together for a cannon cause. The programs are offered at a convenient time for <br /> the participants and at a location exclusively dedicated to this program and <br /> easily accessible. A comprehensive list of courses is being offered including <br /> computers, financial planning, writing reminiscences, as well as several others. <br /> The quality of the program may be measured by the fact that enrollment more <br /> than doubled in one semester. In addition, the attrition rate was less than <br /> 10%. The participants gave the program a highly positive rating. <br /> The North Carolina Adult Education Association is pleased to present the <br /> Creative and Innovative Program Award to the Saturday School for Senior Citizens <br /> of Durham Technical Institute. <br />
