08E . .4110"41 A 11.E. December 9, 1985 Dear Mr. Willhoit, We', are Susan Waldron and Lisa Pakenham of Allenton Realtors in Hillsborough. We are writing in regard to .the "Rock House":, a home the corner of Highway 70-A and Lawrence Road that we have listed for sale. Mere has been considerable interest in the pur- chase of this property as a Bed and Breakfast Inn. Its location, size and history certainly support the appropriateness of this use. As you know, the county recently adopted new planning regulations for Bed and Breakfast Inns. It is our opinion that this home will have no' trouble conforming with all of these regulations except one. SectionlS-54 requires that the property be listed on the National Register of Historic Homes or be of historic interest to the state of North Carolina. We spoke with Virginia Oswald, the National Register Coordinator for the state of North Carolina, who indicated that the home would most likely qualify for the National Register, however this process takes 6-8 months. To expedite matters, Ms. Oswald suggested that the county ocnissioners pass a resolution acknowledging the property's historic interest. We .are therefore requesting your attention to this matter and are asking to be placed on the agenda for the December 17th meeting in Chapel Hill for the purpose of acting on such a resolution.
