In answer to a <br /> question about taxes, Wallace indicated taxes would not increase until <br /> the property is annexed and that water and sewer services would be <br /> provided before annexation. He pointed out that this request is not a <br /> prelude to annexation. <br /> McClintock complimented the Planning Board and staff of Orange <br /> County for their guidance on a subdivision project he is involved with <br /> and questioned the standards of Chapel Hill. <br /> Mayor Wallace explained that the Town standards are to be <br /> adopted by the County for those areas that may be annexed in the future. <br /> This is the reason for his suggestion of a joint planning board to make <br /> recommendations to the Town Council and Board of Commissioners. <br /> McClintock commented that he can only vote and voice his <br /> opinions to the Board of Commissioners and would not be able to do so if <br /> the proposal was granted. <br /> D. He noted that <br /> contacts have been made with the Department of Commerce and neighboring <br /> counties. In looking at the future, the Commission is very positive. A <br /> brochure has been prepared and a large list of contacts is available. As <br /> 1-40 is nearer completion, the number of inquiries has increased. He <br /> thanked the Planning Department for their support in the Commission's <br /> efforts and the Board of Commissioners for their assistance. <br /> 2.
