Generally, the amount of land required for residential
and associated non-residential and commercial uses is directly related to
the size of the population. The following table summarizes the population
projections for Cedar Grove Township during the plan period:
TABLE 3-108
POPULATION PROJECTIONS: 1980-2000
1980 1990 2000 1980-2000
POPULATION TOTAL 3,166 1 3,150 2 3,1502
POPULATION CHANGE
(NUMBER) (-)16 ••••*• (-)16
11980 U.S. Census figure.
SOURCE: U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of the Census.
2 Projected population based on the LINAVE method. Explanation of
methodology can be found in Appendix A.
SOURCE: Orange County Planning Department.
The projected population of 3150 persons in Cedar Grove Township by the
year 2000 represents a decline in population over the plan period. This
reflects the relatively stable population in Cedar Grove Township since
the 1960s and the liklihood that the Township's isolation from centers of
employment will result in the out-migration of certain segments of the
population. Since a loss in population has been projected, the land area
required to accommodate future population has not been calculated.
Allocation of Growth
The primary task of the Land Use Plan is to geographically allocate the
anticipated growth throughout the Township in accordance with the County-
wide goals and policies and Township policy statements.
