Gattis, County Manager <br /> FRI21: Kathy Battern, Chairman Steering Committee <br /> DATE: May 5, 1981 <br /> SUBJECT: Recommendations of the Data Processing Steering Committee <br /> As you requested, the Steering Committee reviewed all requests <br /> for CDT terminals in both the current and next budget years. The <br /> committee heard presentations from departments. We included all <br /> criteria suggested by you in our process. The following summarizes <br /> the discussions with those departments: <br /> 1.) Board of Elections, Bobbie Strickland <br /> A. Fund availability: Transfer of current year funds <br /> 10 430 34 Costs lower because of computer printouts $1,000.00 <br /> 10 430 14 Travel, Board Members missed 2 seminars 500.00 <br /> 10 430 25 Duplicating costs lower than expected 500.00 <br /> B. Justification: Benefit to the County is to provide more accurate <br /> and updated voting records, Direct Benefit to the Federal and <br /> County jury in having this information. Does not require <br /> additional personnel or programming. <br /> C. Usage: In election years, the 'terminal would be used fulltime to <br /> — generate reports and update information. At slow times the <br /> terminal would be available to other users. <br /> 2.) Health, Lisa Beralzheimer <br /> A. Fund availability: Transfer of current year funds <br /> 10 644 02 Unused Family Planning personnel funds $1800.00 <br /> B. Justification: Benefit would be accuracy of data for the Health <br /> department, This would result in follow up of Patients, data <br /> for decision making for clinic loads. Reports to the State are <br /> now done manually and while there would be no significant reduc- <br /> tion of staff time, it would allow expansion of needed records. <br /> C. Usage: There is not a program currently in use for this activity. <br /> However, data processing is 85% complete on designing the program <br /> for this process. It is estimated to be a small program resulting <br /> in 37, more use of the system. <br /> 3,) Revenue, Johnny Horner <br /> A, Fund availability: Transfer of current year funds <br /> 10 540 14 Travel costs underestimated $800.00 <br /> Use of capital request funds currently budgeted <br />
