REHABILITATION PLAN -. <br /> ( <br /> (a) Current settling ponds will be left as lakes, with the banks <br /> being sloped and seeded. <br /> The plant area may be left for the plant area of another <br /> industry, as a factory foundation, or as parking area, as needed. Barring <br /> any of the above, the area may be plowed and seeded with some type of suit- <br /> able vegetation. <br /> Spoils piles will be sloped to prevent sliding, and seeded <br /> with a suitable type of vegetation to prevent erosion. <br /> The pit will be filled with water from underground springs <br /> . and Phill's Creek, and we anticipate that OWASA will want it as a reservoir, <br /> as it is currently using to great advantage the pit from the old American <br /> Stone Company quarry. <br /> ( <br /> (b) The rehabilitated topo should resemble the original topo map <br /> of the area with the following exceptions: the berm area will be built up <br /> to an unknown height and width; the settling pond and the pit will grow to <br /> unknown sizes and depths, all depending on the longevity and volume of <br /> business aver the years of operation. Our plan is to leave the settling <br /> pond as a lake and to allow the pit to fill with water and thereby be a <br /> lake or a reservoir. <br /> An accurate topographical map of the berm area, settling <br /> pond, and pit is impossible to produce at this time. <br /> (c) Because of the nature of the extraction process, it is <br /> impossible to predict with any accuracy the date by which, operation will <br /> be concluded. However, we anticipate that the surface rehabilitation will <br /> be concluded within 12 months of the date operations cease; the pit, depending- <br /> on its size, will probably take more than a year to fill with water. <br /> .., . <br /> • <br />
