This is <br /> used not only as a filtration system for runoff into Phil's Creek <br /> but also as a visual and noise buffer. <br /> The closed water system used by the quarry operation appears to <br /> be functioning very well at this time. The settling ponds are <br /> periodically dregged as the sediment has a high dollar value in the <br /> manufacture of asphalt. <br /> It is our opinion that American Stone Company should be given a <br /> favorable recommendation from the staff for the Special Use Permit. <br /> RC/sw <br />
