We appear here tonight neither as <br /> opponents or proponents of the Buck Mountain or Midway loca' <br /> k <br /> ' <br /> or for that matter, the existing Horace Williams location. <br /> Rather, we appear to make some general observations related <br /> to the importance of an airport in Southern Orange County <br /> - <br /> and to pose a series of questions which we would ask you , as <br /> our Commissioners consider and give us your official respon <br /> First , let us speak to the question of the need for a n <br /> airport in Southern Orange County. <br /> L <br /> Today the prime demand for a general aviation airport <br /> rests with the University of North Carolina Division of Heal <br /> Affairs. There is a secondary demand from corporate aircraf <br /> F <br /> for flight instruction and for maintenance. The extent of <br /> this demand is difficult to determine as use of Horace Willi <br /> is restricted to minimize the complaints of those who have <br /> purchased homes in the area Our point is that the known <br /> - demand justifies an airport . Potential demand only increases <br /> the need. <br /> Our second point relates to location. It is abundantly <br /> clear from recent discussions involving members of the Chapel <br /> Hill Town Council , that there is an overwhelming desire on <br /> their part to see Horace Williams Airport closed and its <br />
