ATTACHMENT D1 <br /> 80—R <br /> A RESOLUTION REGARDING A ROAD NAMING PROJECT <br /> WHEREAS, duplicated or similar sounding road names constitute a threat to the pu <br /> health, safety and welfare, and <br /> WHEREAS, duplicated or similar sounding road names may cause citizens, communica <br /> center dispatchers, law enforcement, fire and ambulance personnel confusion, doubt <br /> error and may result in the incorrect dispatch of emergency services, and <br /> WHEREAS, the Orange County Board of Commissioners, through recommendations of its ; <br /> Naming Advisory Committee has accepted all Municipal street names and renamed the ri <br /> in unincorporated Orange County accordingly, <br /> • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the ' <br /> • of Chapel Hill hereby declares it is in the public interest to avoid duplicating 1 <br /> names, and <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town will participate with the Carrboro, Chapel H; <br /> Hillsborough, Mebane, and Orange County in the County's Intergovernmental Road Nar <br /> Program, and <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town provide all new approved road names to Or <br /> County, and receive from Orange County a Master List of road names to be used to a% <br /> duplication of said road names, and <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED to take any additional action as may be mutually agreed upon <br /> the respective Towns and county to eliminate duplication of street names in develops <br /> which has occurred to date to avoid duplication of road and street names. <br /> This the 8th day of September 1980. <br /> 0 k <br /> vIg,) <br />
