The Charter of the Town of Carrboro, <br /> 8 being Chapter660 , Session Laws of 1969, is amended by addiri <br /> —9 a new section to read: <br /> 10 "Section 5. 44. Bikeways <br /> 11 The Towri of Carrboro may adopt ordinances regulating <br /> 12 the use of bikeways (thoroughfares suitable for bicycles) <br /> 13 within the town, whether such bikeways exist within the <br /> 14 rights-of-wa of public streets or along separate and indepei <br /> 15 corridors. Without limiting the foregoing , such ordinances <br /> 16 may establish traffic regulations for bicycles travelling in <br /> 17 designated bikeways different than those established for oth <br /> 18 types of vehicular traffic. " <br /> 19 Sec. 2. Section 4. 21 of the Charter of the Town of <br /> 20 Carrboro is amended by adding a new subsection to read: <br /> 21 " (c) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the <br /> 22 manager of the Town of Carrboro shall not be required to becc <br /> 23 a member of the North Carolina Local Government Employees' <br />
