Kirk: <br /> We have reviewed the preliminary plan for the above as revised <br /> January 27, 1981, along with the evaluation prepared by the Chapel Hill <br /> Planning Board. <br /> This portion of Sedgefield is located directly in the path of I-40,L <br /> We have checked with our Raleigh Office and found that the alignment of 1-40 <br /> in this area has been finalized and the exact amount of right of way and ease- <br /> .: <br /> ments necessary for construction will be known in the near future. <br /> Because of the impact I-110 will have on this development and because <br /> of the status of the plans for 1740, we feel that any further expansion of <br /> Sedgefield should be designed around 1-40. The plan as submitted as well as <br /> the recommendations made by the Chapel Hill Planning Board relative to street <br /> changes are not compatible with 1-40. <br /> We recommend that the plan be developed around the 1-40 right of way. <br /> We will be glad to furnish up-to-date information to the developer for this <br /> purpose. <br /> We ask for your help in this matter since failure to plan for 1-40 <br /> may result in streets and lots being cut off in an undesirable manner, unknow- <br /> ing consumers buying houses and lots within the proposed right of way, and an <br /> increased cost to taxpayers for 1-40 right of way because of the development. <br /> Please seriously consider our recommendation and do not hesitate to <br /> call if you need additional information. <br /> Yours very truly, <br /> SHJ/NAB:jbh S. .H./Jones <br /> DISTRICT ENGINEER <br /> cc: Mr. J.
