HUMAN SERVICES CONFERENCE 1980 <br /> Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> In the end-of-conference small group session, all five Commissioners met <br /> with the County administrative staff members present to share thoughts <br /> and ideas, and to evaluate the Conference experience. The Commissioners <br /> agreed: <br /> 1) To continue their support for and interaction with the Human <br /> Services Advisory Commission. <br /> 2) To continue the direct involvement of Commissioners as members <br /> of human services boards, such as Board. of Social Services, Mental <br /> Health Board, Public Health Board, Senior Citizen Board, JOCCA, <br /> HSAC, Recreation Commission, etc. <br /> 3) To try to convert the Conference experience into action with <br /> subsequent discussion on the Board of Commissioners and agency <br /> boards. <br /> 4) To promote better understanding with agencies and the general <br /> public regarding the limitations of the Board of Commissioners , <br /> e.g. inflexibility of mandates and requirements, funding limi- <br /> tations, etc. <br /> 5) To continue to grapple with State and Federal policies in efforts <br /> toward better cooperation and coordination with other levels of <br /> government, and to continue efforts to affect policy through <br /> contact with individual legislators and active participation in <br /> the TJCOG, NCACC, and NACO. <br /> 6) To start afresh to look for new sources of funding, both public <br /> and private. <br /> 7) To insist on coordination of services, where possible, particularly <br /> through the budget process. <br /> These were presented to the Conference in its final session. <br />
