Development of a department-wide MIS system to aid in follow-up, data i <br /> , easy access to crucial information now in progress. <br /> Orange County has shared a dynamic relationship with project managemer <br /> both Regional and State levels. The majority of communication has revolved <br /> around problem areas--billing procedures, data retrieval and analysis, poll <br /> [. <br /> interpretation. Instruction and counseling has also been provided primaril <br /> in planning for proposed follow-up and appointment systems. <br /> A Family Ylanning Advisory Council made up of consumers, providers and <br /> interested community people is active in Orange County. The health educati <br /> staff works with the council to facilitate quarterly meetings, provide info <br /> tion to keep them abreast of current activities of the department and serve <br /> liaison with the administration to share their input on program policies an <br /> Lt, procedures. Our local council is also affiliated with the Regional advisor <br /> council for Region J COG. <br /> The Teen Health Council consisting of junior high and high school stud. <br /> (male and female) , has been organized to aid the department in its developm <br /> of program services geared toward teens. The council meets Monthly to disct <br /> , and to learn about health topics which directly affect teens; especially ar( <br /> dealing with teen sexuality, contraception and pregnancy. The council also <br /> representative§ on the Family Planning Council. During 1980, the Council <br /> ' members participated in a pilot peer counseling training program which was <br /> coordinated by the health education division of OCHD. These teens were taw <br /> [- counseling techniques, facts on male and female reproductive anatomy, birth <br /> control, venereal disease, drug and alcohol abuse, and were also instructed <br /> and when to refer to other agencies and services. The Peer Counseling Progr <br /> was developed so that teens may more effectively counsel and pass on informs <br /> to their peers. This fiscal year, the Teen Health Council is developing a t <br /> "hotline" to expand the use of their peer counseling experience. <br />
