MATERNAL AND CHILD CARE <br /> I. Family Planning <br /> The purpose of the Family Planning program is to provide individua <br /> the freedom of choice to determine the number and spacing of their chilt <br /> Medical, educational and social services in relation to family planning <br /> comprise the various aspects of health care given when a person seeks <br /> advice or treatment for the control of reproduction. Priority for servi <br /> is to persons who might otherwise not have access to them--specificall3 <br /> persons of low income and teen-agers. <br /> Family Planning Clinics are held one day per week at each office ft <br /> 8: 15 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.--the extended hours, for convenience of the workir <br /> population. Services include comprehensive medical examinations , patier <br /> education classes , individual counseling and instruction, transportation <br /> for teens, provision, of contraceptive supplies, and referral to other <br /> providers as necessary. <br /> In addition are special efforts directed specifically at teens (the <br /> Teen Health Project and the Teen Parenting Project). Teen Health <br /> activities are those which focus on teens as consumers or potential <br /> consumers of family planning services and addresses the adoption of <br /> healthful living patterns. The Teen Parenting and Child Health Program <br /> directed at enhancing parenting skills of pregnant teens , with the goal <br /> preventing further unplanned pregnancies and, among enrollees , reduction <br /> in the AFDC syndrome, lowered incidence of child abuse and negleqoand <br /> corresponding enhancement of child development. <br /> A. Objectives <br /> 1. By June 30, 198 ,30% or 1 ,506 women in need of subsidized family planninl <br /> services will be actively enrolled in the family planning program. <br /> Methods: a. Coordination with County Social Services for identificatiot <br /> of women in need of subsidized family planning services- <br /> specifically AFDC, Food Stamp, and mothers of EPSDT <br /> recipients. <br /> b. Follow-up of delinquent , inactive patients. <br /> c. Follow-up of patients who have applied for Title XIX and XX <br /> entitlements through Orange County Health Department. <br />
