<br /> The relationship of the family planning program to federally funded h
<br /> programs is through Title X. The following comprehensive medical, ed
<br /> tional, and social components of the Orange County Health Department'
<br /> planning clinical services, as governed by Title X are available.
<br /> A. Patient educational classes with special emphasis on new enrollees an
<br /> patienbswho desire to change methods. Group or individual sessions w
<br /> content tailored to the patient's needs are available during regular
<br /> clinic hours. The curriculum includes, but is not limited to; review
<br /> the male and female reproductive organs, the menstrual cycle, how con(
<br /> occurs, contraception (all methods and use of birth control, includini
<br /> naturai methods), clinical procedures and policies.
<br /> B. Review of Social, medical, surgical, menstrual, contraceptive history
<br /> including sexual, gynecological, obstetrical, cardiovascular, metaboli
<br /> neoplastic, neurological, hemopoietic, and genito-urinary elements.
<br /> C. Review of current drugs/medications, smoking, douching habits and fami
<br /> medical history.
<br /> D: Contraceptive education (individual with nurse) including review of al
<br /> methods and correct use of chosen birth control method. , Instruction i
<br /> breast examination.
<br /> E. Laboratory Studies--Hematocrit; urinalysis for blood, PH, protein, glu
<br /> and microscopic examination; serologic testing for syphillis and rubel
<br /> smear; culture screening for n. gonorrhea.; PPD skin test or referral f
<br /> chest x-ray as indicated for TB screening; height; weight; blood press
<br /> sickle cell testing as indicated; blood glucose; pregnancy testing if
<br /> indicated; rubella H. I. titer if indicated.
<br /> F. Medical examination by physician including chest (heart and lungs); th;
<br /> extremities; breast; abdomen; pelvic (bimanual, recto-vaginal, and
<br /> visualization of cervix) ; other exams as indicated.
<br /> G. Treatment of suspected and proven venereal disease, other vaginal infe(
<br /> and uncomplicated urinary tract infections.
<br /> H. Counseling for infertility problems with appropriate referrals; problen
<br /> pregnancy with appropriate referrals; referral and counseling for male
<br /> female sterilization procedures.
<br /> I. Referral and counseling for prenatal care and medical emergencies.
<br /> J. Referral and counseling for nutritional counseling as appropriate.
<br /> K. Immunization for rubella, rubeola, polio, diphtbstia and tetanus if indi
<br /> L. Supply of the desired contraceptive. The birth control methods current
<br /> available at our clinic include: oral- contraceptives (Brevicon) Modicei
<br /> Ortho-Novum 1/35, Ortho-Novum 1/50, Ortho-Novum 1/80, Norinyl 1/50, Nor
<br /> 1/80, Demulen, Ovulen, Norinyl 2xngs. , others by perscription), IUD (Lip]
<br /> Loop), Diaphragm (all flex and coil spring), 'contraceptive cream, jelly
<br /> foam, and condom. The rhythm method using the Basal temperature or mum
<br /> secretions is also taught upon request.
<br /> M. Interpretation of clinical findings. Information concerning availabilit
<br /> emergency services. Transportation.
<br /> N. Financial counseling and referral as indicated.
