Locational Criteria <br /> Land in the Township was "filtered through" a series of criteria designed <br /> to evaluate locations for their suitability to contain various land uses. <br /> Locational criteria were developed and used in each of the areas: <br /> - Topography <br /> - Hydrology <br /> - Population density <br /> - Energy Use <br /> - Existing land use <br /> - Historic and cultural characteristics <br /> - Public services and utilities <br /> - Transportation system <br /> - Agriculture and forestry <br /> These criteria were derived from the Community Profile because of their <br /> importance in determining the best locations for new land uses. Measures <br /> for each locational criteria were used. These are explained more fully in <br /> the County-wide Summary, <br /> Distribution of Land Use Plan Categories in Hillsborough Township <br /> Land in Hillsborough Township has been classified into the Land Use Plan <br /> categories according to the set of locational criteria which define the <br /> environmental centext and according to public policy as expressed in the <br /> Orange County Land Use Goals and Policies section of the Plan, The purpose <br /> of this approach is to account for both environmental factors (natural and <br /> social ) and for public values regarding the future of Orange County. <br /> Hillsborough Township is classified into the following Land Use Plan <br /> categories: Urban, 20-Year Transition, Rural Residential , Agricultural <br />
