Rural Residential . The other Rural Residential Area in the Township is focused <br /> on the section of the I-85-US 70 transportation corridor between Efland and <br /> Mebane. It extends further north of this corridor than it extends south, <br /> encompassing the existing Perry Hills Sibdivision. <br /> Agricultural Residential . In Cheeks Township this category applies to the <br /> vast majority of land-area, both north and south of the I-85-US 70 corridor. <br /> Public Interest Area, This category applies to the Duke Forest tract located <br /> on the eastern boundary of the Township, north and south of US 70. <br /> Environmentally Sensitive. All of the land within the 100-Year floodplains <br /> along the rivers and creeks described in the Township Profile Summary, have <br /> been placed in this category. <br /> Reservoir Protection. This category is designed to apply to existing and <br /> proposed water-supply watersheds for the purposes of providing protection of <br /> the quality of water draining from that watershed into a supply source. For <br /> Cheeks Township, this classification applies to the Eno River watershed, which <br /> includes the subbasins of the Upper Eno, north of I-85-US 70 and Sevenmile <br /> Creek, north of this corridor. <br /> Transition Nodes <br /> Location: Efland Commercial Area (CK-1) <br /> P an 4 0 6-1W-0. : 7;etAwYs/A,70,./ <br /> Analysis and Evaluation: An existing commercial/industrial node is located at <br /> Efland, with the intersection of Southern Drive and Mt. Willing Road serving <br /> as the central point. This node currently serves as a focal point for lower <br /> and medium intensity residential , commercial and industrial uses. As Efland <br /> develops, new growth should "infill" on suitable vacant land within the immediate <br /> area to take advantage of the existing infrastructure which includes water <br /> supply from a central system. Because this node is entirely within a Reservoir <br /> Protection area, industrial and commercial should be limited to those types <br />
