8. 6 Individual mobile homes are a useful housing resources <br /> in the County and will be afforded the same locational <br /> opportunities as site-built single-family units . <br /> 8. 7 All new housing built or located in Orange County will <br /> meet the minimum standards specified in the State of <br /> North Carolina Building Code, as well as Department <br /> of HUD and FMHA Standards when required. <br /> CATEGORY: COMMUNITY FACILITIES AND SERVICES <br /> GOAL NINE: Provision of water and sewer lines in those areas which <br /> can be practically and efficiently served by these <br /> facilities <br /> Draft Policies <br /> 9. 1 Urban Service Areas will be established for Chapel Hill <br /> Carrboro , Hillsborough, Mebane and Durham, which will <br /> Correspond with the 10-year and 20-year Transition Area: <br /> Water and sewer lines should be directed to these areas <br /> which contain and are appropriate for higher density <br /> levels of residential, commercial and industrial, <br /> development. <br /> 9. 2 The County should develop and implement a cooperative <br /> joint planning process among the municipalities and <br /> those organizations responsible for water and sewer <br /> lines to ensure that these lines are extended in accor- <br /> dance with the land use plans and policies of the variot <br /> jurisdictions affected. <br /> GOAL TEN: Clean and safe water supplies adequate to meet future <br /> need <br /> Draft Policies <br /> 10 .1 Adopt a land use plan and other policies which specify <br /> Land use patterns and intensities of development in <br /> water supply watersheds that will minimize potential <br /> adverse impacts on water quality. <br /> 10 . 2 Continue to support programs such as sedimentation and <br /> erosion control and SOS which help to protect water <br /> quality. <br /> 10. 3 Cooperate with other public and private bodies in pro- <br /> moting water quality legislation and programs. <br /> 10. 4 Support educational efforts which serve to increase <br /> citizen understanding of water quality problems and <br /> the need for water conservation. <br /> 10. 5 Encourage efforts to monitor the quality of water in <br /> Orange County streams . <br />
