land area in the Township was classified into series of land use types accord- <br /> ,: <br /> p!' <br /> P ing to a set of locational criteria for each land use. <br /> Land Use Plan Categories and Locational Criteria <br /> The following land use types or categories constitute the basic framework <br /> of the land use plan: <br /> Transition or Urbanizing <br /> Commercial Transition (CT) - Land within or adjacent to the extra- <br /> . territorial jurisdiction of a town that <br /> should be provided with sewer and water <br /> services, develop into an urban area, <br /> ' and probably become part of that town <br /> within the next 10 or 20 years. <br /> Residential Transition (RT) Land within or adjacent to the extra- <br /> territorial jurisdiction of a town that <br /> should be provided with water and sewer <br /> services within the next 20 years, develop <br /> to an expected density of at least 1200 <br /> persons per square mile (+2 persons/acre) , <br /> WT.dthrr'112:cetc7lifeorg of that town <br /> Industrial Transition (IT) Land within or adjacent to the extra- <br /> territorial jurisdiction of a town that <br /> should be provided With water and sewer <br /> services, develop into an urban area, and <br /> become part of that town within the next <br /> 10 or 20 years. <br /> Rural Buffer (RB) Land near or within the urbanizing area <br /> of a town (probably only Chapel Hill and <br /> Carrboro) that will remain rural in <br /> character, never require urban services, <br /> contain very low density, and maintain <br /> farming as an economically viable use. <br /> Urban or Developed <br /> Urban or Developed (D) Land that is within the corporate limits <br /> of a town, or land that has been developed <br /> to approximately 1200 people per square <br /> mile (I- 2 persons/acre) . <br />
