Transportation
In its capacity as the major transportation route in Bingham Township, NC 54
clrries an average daily traffic load-of 6,000 vehicles at its busiest point
within the Township. A second, important east/west route is the Old Greensboro
Road/SR 1005, which averages 1300 vehicles per day at its busiest point within
the Township.
The north/south routes are not as important, the busiest ones are Orange
Grove Road with a traffic count of 790 and White Cross Road/SR 1951 with an
average daily traffic county of 630 vehicles. Additional north/south routes
include bodson's Crossroads/SR 1102, Netane-Oaks Road/SR 1007 and Orange Chapel
Glover Garden Road. Steep slopes respresent
a limited constraint, occuring primarily along the Haw River and same sections
of Cane Creek. Soil conditions in the east central and southeastern area of
the Township present some limitations to building or development activity
because of a heavy clay content and shallow depth to bedrock.
