..mana=m <br /> Transportation <br /> The principal east/west corridor through Orange County traverses southern <br /> Eno Township. This corridor is made up of 1-85, U. S. 70 and a main line of the <br /> Southern Railroad. North/south transportation is much less pronounced in the <br /> Township with one important road serving this function (Pleasant Green Road/ <br /> SR 1567) . <br /> Using the North Carolina Functional Classification System, the major roads <br /> in Eno Township have been placed in the categories of interstate, collectors, <br /> and local roads based on their ability to provide service. <br /> The interstate highway in Eno Township is 1-85. This road travels for <br /> 5 miles across the township. 1-85 has one interchange in Eno Township with <br /> U. S. 70. Current plans of the North Carolina Department of Transportation <br /> call for the six-laning of this highway beginning in 1973. There are no plans <br /> to upgrade the I-85/U. S. 70 interchange at this time. U. S. 70 served as a <br /> major east/west route across the United Stated before the construction of the <br /> interstate system. It is a major two-lane highway and is classified as an <br /> arterial highway, The next service level , collector, includes the following <br /> township roads; U. S, 70 business, St, Mary's Road (SR 1002) , Pleasant Green <br /> Road (SR 1715-1710) , Cole Mill Road (SR 1569) , and New Sharon Church Road (SR 1538: <br /> Sewer and Water Systems <br /> Eno Township is not currently served by a public sewer system. However, <br /> sewer mains from the Town of Hillsborough and the City of Durham currently border <br /> Eno Township and the "201 " sewer plans prepared for these two municipalities <br /> call for future expansion into Eno Township. Sewer lines from the Town of <br /> Hillsborough are projected to include a small area of Eno Township along <br /> U. S. 70 by the year 2000.
