7 <br />County Commissioners may be asked to consider an approximately $220,000 change order for <br />a sprinkler system for the building in the near future. There was some confusion regarding the <br />requirement in context of the Town's ordinance that went into effect July 10, 2006. The details <br />of the requested change order are being finalized and additional information regarding the <br />issue's evolution will be presented to the County Board when the funding request is brought <br />forward. <br />The Durham Tech facility is slated for completion in early 2008. The College advises County <br />staff that while there may be limited Continued Education offerings in the Spring 2008, <br />curriculum classes will begin later in the year. <br />No Attachments <br />e) Update on Walnut Grove Church Road Solid Waste Convenience Center <br />The Walnut Grove Church. Road Solid Waste Convenience Center (SWCC) is being expanded <br />onto the adjacent property, which was purchased by the County on January 31, 2007. The <br />lease on the Highway 57 SWCC property expires on April 30, 2007. The existing center is <br />being temporarily expanded in order to accommodate an expected increase in users that will be <br />diverted from the Highway 57 SWCC when it closes on April 24. Following a final decision by <br />the BOCC on the relocation of the Highway 57 SWCC, the Walnut Grove Church Road site is <br />proposed to be redeveloped into a significantly improved and modernized permanent SWCC on <br />the newly acquired property. A suitable property for the relocation of the Highway 57 site has <br />not yet been identified. <br />Residents of the Town of Hillsborough who have used the Highway 57 Convenience Center for <br />waste disposal, recycling, brush, leaves and bulky items are urged to use available Town- <br />provided -curbside services for collection of all these items. Additionally, Town residents are <br />also encouraged to utilize the County recycling drop-off site at Hampton Pointe. <br />The Boards may want to discuss this item as necessary. <br />No Attachments <br />f) Development of Coordinated Guidelines for Pre-construction Archeological <br />Surveys <br />Town representatives expressed an interest in discussing this item at the meeting. <br />No Attachments <br />4. Schools-Related Issues <br />a) Future School Site Collaboration/Placements/Land-Banking in Hillsborough <br />The County/Schools Collaboration Work Group (a group composed of the chair and vice chairs <br />of Orange County and both school districts) has asked the board chairs to forward a letter to the <br />mayors of the County municipalities detailing a more formal process of school site collaboration. <br />School site 'land banking' includes identifying properties and purchasing them, in advance, for <br />long-term school site needs.
