As a reminder, this project also includes River Park and the construction of a Public Market. The Public Market portion of the project will be completed as quickly as practicable after the beginning of the work. However, it should be noted that the construction site will include the entire lower parking lot, thereby making access less than ideal for patrons of the market. It is staffs understanding that the farmer's market leadership has been able to negotiate alternative arrangements for a downtown location during the construction period to allow uninterrupted service during the 2007 growing season. Staff will provide any other information related to these facilities at the meeting, and the Boards can discuss these facilities as necessary. No Attachments b) County Campus Projects Update The expanded County campus project has received approval from the Town of Hillsborough's Board of Adjustment and Historic District Commission. - Construction of the Gateway Building, the first of three buildings in which the County has interest, is underway at this time. Upon completion in early-2008, the County will begin leasing the upper two floors of the facility for its Register of Deeds, Land Records/GIS, Tax Assessor and Revenue Departments. A 407-vehicle parking deck is also being constructed within the same timeframe as the Gateway Building, although completion may occur within a few months of the completion of the Gateway Building. Construction of the office building (approx. 46,700 square feet) and library (approx. 23,400 square feet) will begin later in 2007. Currently, plans identify the following departments to occupy the office building: Economic Development Commission, Environmental Health, Environment Resource Conservation Department, Housing and Community Development, Information Systems, Planning and Inspections and, as space may be available, Purchasing and Central Services. Planning for the new Library is underway. At an upcoming meeting, the Board of County Commissioners is expected to consider a contract for a space planner with expertise in library planning. Although the buildings on the Campus are being designed through Brockwell and Associates of Durham, the Library Task Force recommended that a consultant with specific expertise in library space planning be retained in order to ensure the interior space design utilized state of the art design for library operations. A design charette in early April 2007 will be recommended to the County Commissioners to kick off the approximately four-month design process. All construction of the expanded campus is anticipated for completion no later than Summer 2008.
