-2- <br /> The General Statutes of North Carolina authorize the County to <br /> possess property, and exercise all of those powers conveyed by law <br /> to the County in the interest of the health, safety, and general <br /> welfare of all the residents residing within the corporate limits <br /> and within the boundaries of the County. <br /> WHAT THE DISTRICT WILL DO: <br /> 1 . With the help of the County, Service, and others, will develop <br /> and keep current a long range program of natural resource <br /> conservation. <br /> 2. Make available to the County, and coordinate,., such technical <br /> assistance as available, to assist the County in helping to <br /> bring about the conservation, development, and wise use of land, <br /> water, and related resources. <br /> 3. Provide assistance to the County in accordance with the annual <br /> work plan prepared by the District in consultation with the <br /> County and the Service. <br /> 4. Provide assistance to the County in accordance with priorities <br /> set by the County for the kind and amounts of work to be performed, <br /> including help with an effective sedimentation and erosion control <br /> program. <br /> 5. Furnish'the County annually an estimate of the cost of providing <br /> the kinds and amounts of assistance requested by the County. <br /> 6. Provide the County progress reports annually, or as requested, <br /> showing type and amount of work done. <br /> 7. Provide the County soil survey interpretations and review and make <br /> written comments on problems of water disposal, drainage, erosion <br /> and sedimentation control, beautification, pollution control and <br /> related matters as requested by the County. <br />
