Several g the ] <br /> suggestions at that time to increase participation. Most of the brought fs weri <br /> inoorporated into the program through the cooperation of suggestions were <br /> Social Services and County Commissioners. County Board of <br /> The following is a summary of services implemented to increase Food Stamp usage: <br /> 1. Provide full time applications intake worker for Carr Mill office who would u <br /> on anon-appointment basis. <br /> This was implemented August 18, 1980. Response to this effort has been light <br /> with work load averaging about 404 of normal work load with weeks when work-1 <br /> is below 25%. Change of assignment for part of work day seems priority remaining to give prompt assistance on non�-appointment basis. with <br /> 2. Begin offering appointments for Food Stamps at Joint Orange-Chatham Community <br /> Action sites in Cedar Grove and Ef1and-ChBek. <br /> This was implemented September 2, 1980. Response to this effort has been nag <br /> gable.. It is estimated 90% of appointments that have been scheduled were di- <br /> verted to these sites by our staff, Numerous visits have been canceled due ti <br /> no appointments being soheduled and many trips have been made to see only a f. <br /> clients, The rate of applicants who do not keep appointments has been very h <br /> JOA Director Was Rare was notified of these problems in October, 1980 and h <br /> assistance was solioited to make Lull use of this service. <br /> 3.
