Director of Employment and Training Programs <br /> RE: Some thoughts on why Triangle J could serve as an appropriate <br /> Service Delivery Area for Orange County <br /> - Exeerience planner has been working with PIC in Lee and <br /> Chatham Counties. <br /> - Planner has been T.A. person for service providers/JTPA operators- <br /> ' (JOCCA in Chatham already involved in Orange County) . <br /> - CO G EST staff familiar with labor market statistics dated . <br /> • on JTPA eligible citizens, employment Issues, population <br /> in Orange County - seeing regional and county concerns. <br /> - Triangle J planner has researched economic facts and-trends - <br /> of1the region. <br /> - Overall regional planning has already been developed. <br /> 1 <br /> - Triangle J PIC has record of working with other employment <br /> pr grams (Title V, 502, etc.) E.S.C. and operating <br /> - Jo seeking skills workshops (Job Readiness - especially useful <br /> for women re-entering an employed for long time) <br /> - Coordination, collaboration and cooperation between other <br /> agncies, institutions and TJCOG EST programs. <br /> (Technical colleges, Division of Social Services Employment <br /> Security Commission). • <br /> - Private sector linkages are already established thru other <br /> EST programs and COG has staff job developer, job counselor. <br /> - Recommendation in report - Commission for Women JTPA <br /> Report - was the "Governor Governor should evaluate the need for larger <br /> service delivery areas suc:l as current regional units." <br /> - County, commissioners involved in TJCOG activities and lee/ <br /> Chatham PIC. <br /> - Women and minorities have been given equitable representation <br /> on Triangle J PIC (13 members includes - 3 females, 4• Black. <br /> - Goals for serving AFDC recipients x women have been exceeded <br /> by Region J. <br />
