_ . <br /> - - <br /> O4 t. . • , <br /> . . <br /> . . <br /> • . <br /> RESOLUTION . . <br /> WHEREAS, the Orange County Board of Education approved the School Organization/ <br /> Facilities Improvement Plan on November 19, 1984, and <br /> WHEREAS, this 'plan recommended the conversion of Orange High School to a grade <br /> 9-12 pattern, and . . <br /> WHEREAS, ' the Cliounty authorized $35,000 for architectural and engineering studies <br /> related.to the facility renovations and expansion.necessary for this <br /> conversion, and . . . <br /> . • . . <br /> WHEREAS, upon completion of these preliminary studies the County appropriated <br /> $670,000 in 1985-86 and reserved $1,330,000 for 1986-87,and <br /> WHEREAS, an additional appropriation of $ 989,000 • will be needed in 1987-88 to <br /> complete the facility renovations and.expansion, and . <br /> . . . <br /> WHEREAS, the Oange County School System has hired an architectural firm, couplet.. <br /> the educational program specifications, completed the schematic design <br /> phase', and substantially completed the design development phase, and <br /> I . <br /> . . , <br /> WHEREAS, if contracts can be awarded in March, 1986 construction can be completed <br /> 1 <br /> . between July and August, 1987, and <br /> WHEREAS, witholt the assurance that the funds will be appropriated to the school <br /> syste11 by Orange County, the school system is prevented under North <br /> • Carolina General Statute 115c-432(b)(4) from awarding bids. <br /> i <br /> NOW, THEREFORE,IBE.
