CHCCS Elementary <br />School Membership Projections <br />PURPOSE: To approve funding for Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools Elementary #10 including <br />water and sewer infrastructure for Twin Creeks Park. <br />BACKGROUND: On February 2, 2007, Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools Superintendent Neil <br />Pedersen notified the County Manager that, on February 1, 2007, the Board of Education <br />approved a total project budget for Elementary #10 of $24,282,751 and authorized him to <br />submit the .District's request to the County. Before forwarding their funding request to the <br />Commissioners, the Board of Education and its staff analyzed the bids received, negotiated with <br />the lowest multi-prime bidders, and reduced the total construction budget by $624,319. <br />Attachment 1 of this agenda abstract includes a list of the value-engineered components of the <br />project. The following sustainable design features remain in the project: <br />• Rainwater harvesting/reclamation system <br />• Day lighting in all classrooms <br />• Motion sensors on lights <br />• High efficiency boiler and air conditioning systems <br />• Solar panels on roof <br />• Solar hot water heating system <br />Following discussions on the February 6 and March 1, 2007 Commissioners' meetings, <br />Commissioners agreed to fund construction of Elementary #10 including water and sewer <br />infrastructure to Twin Creeks at the requested amount of $24.3 million. Commissioners further <br />agreed that the County's financial commitment to construction of Elementary #10 including <br />
