Mills, Division Engineer, with <br />Proposed 2006-2007 SR Construction Program <br />Proposed 2007-2008 SR Construction Program <br />Letters to The Chapel Hill News, The News of <br />Orange and the Mebane Enterprise <br />Unpaved Secondary Roads Rating List <br />PURPOSE: To discuss and receive comment on North Carolina Department of Transportation's <br />Proposed 2006-2007 Secondary Roads Construction Program and Proposed 2007-2008 <br />Secondary Roads Construction Program for Orange County. <br />BACKGROUND: Chapter 136-44.8 of the General Statutes of North Carolina (NCGS) requires <br />that North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) meet with the Board of Courity <br />Commissioners at a public meeting to present and discuss with the Board and others the <br />proposed secondary road paving projects (Secondary Roads Construction Program). NCDOT, <br />in compliance with NCGS 136-44.8, has posted in the Orange County Courthouse a County <br />map showing tentative secondary road paving projects, and has published notice of the public <br />hearing in county newspapers (The Chapel Hill News, The News of Orange and The Mebane <br />Enterprise). <br />The 2006-2007 allocation for Orange County secondary roads totals $ 1,300,113. The <br />allocation includes: <br />Paving Rural <br />Rural Paving Priority (11 road segments - 5.14 miles) $ 1,282,000 <br />Contingency $ 18,113 <br />Total $ 1,300,113 <br />The FY 2006-2007 allocation represents a 386% increase in funding from the $267,460 <br />allocation for the 2005-2006 Orange County Secondary Roads Construction Program. <br />
