They carry the major portion of trips, entering and <br /> Leaving an urban area, as wall as the majority of through movements <br /> desiring tp bypass a central city. These streets carry between 7,500 <br /> and 40,000j trips per day. Residential and non—residential access <br /> should be restricted if alternative access from a street of Lower <br /> classification is possible. <br /> Street, Collector Collector streets penetrate neighborhoods and are designed <br /> to carry traffic between minor, local and subcollector street systems <br /> channeling it into the arterial systems . Collector streets provide <br /> land access service and carry local traffic movements within <br /> residential' neighborhoods, commercial, and industrial areas. These <br /> streets carry between 800 and 3,000 trips per day, . <br /> Residentiallaccass should be restricted if alternative access from a <br /> street of Lower classification is possible. <br /> Street . Local Local streets provide access to abutting properties. They <br /> filter Local traffic to small residential subdivisions from <br /> subcollectors and provide access to minor streets. They serve at <br /> ' least ten (10) but not more then thirty five (35) dwelling units and <br /> are expected to handle between seventy five (75) and three hundred and <br /> fifty (350) trips per day. Residential, access is not restricted. <br /> Nonresidential access is restricted. <br /> Street. Minor, Minor streets provide direct access to abutting residential <br /> properties. They serve or are designed to serve not more than twenty <br /> five (25) dwelling units and are expected to handle not more than one <br /> hundred (100) trips per day. Residential access is not restricted . <br /> Nonresidential access is restricted . <br /> 1 <br />
